What is Capreomycin ?   Capreomycin is a peptide antibiotic, commonly grouped with the aminoglycosides, which is given in combination with other antibiotics for MDR-tuberculosis.IC50 value:Target: The drug should not be given other drugs that may damage the auditory vestibular nerve. Patients on this drug will often require audiology tests. It is a cyclic peptide.Capreomycin is administered intramuscularly and shows bacteriostatic activity.

Application of Capreomycin :

Capreomycin sulfate, also known as antituberculomycin sulfate, is an antituberculin peptide antibiotic
produced by Streptomyces entwinus Str.capreolus. It is composed of four peptides, including capreomycin IAC25H44N14O8·2H2SO4, capreomycin IBC25H44N14O7·2H2SO4, A and B, but mainly IA and IB are
used clinically. Capreomycin is a white or yellowish powder, odorless and tasteless. Soluble in water,
insoluble , ethanol, other organic solvents. It has a significant inhibitory effect
against mycobacterium tuberculosis, but not against other bacteria, and is mainly used in patients with
cavity tuberculosis. It has toxic effects on the eighth cranial nerve and kidney.
