Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor antagonist (angiotensin receptor blocker, ARB) used in the management of hypertension.Telmisartan, a novel antihypertensive drug, is a specific angiotensin receptor (AT type) antagonist for the treatment of essential hypertension. Alternative angiotensin receptors bind to AT receptor subtypes (known sites of action for angiotensin ) with high affinity. Telmisartan did not have any site agonist effect on the AT receptor site, but selectively bound to the AT receptor, and the binding effect was long-lasting.
