What is Guanfacine HCl ? Guanfacine HCL is a central antihypertensive drug, whose pharmacological action is similar to clonine. Guanfacine HCL is a central alpha2 receptor activator that activates central alpha2 receptors and reduces peripheral sympathetic nerve activity, resulting in decreased blood pressure. The antihypertensive effect of this drug is weaker than that of clonine. Therefore, the dose is 7 ~ 10 times larger than clonine, and the sedative effect of the central nervous system is weak, and the site of action may be different from Clonine.

Application of Guanfacine HCl 

Guanfacine HCL was absorbed quickly and completely by oral administration. The antihypertensive effect reached its peak 6h after oral administration and lasted for more than 24h. The half-life of oral administration is 21h. Therefore, the drug is easily distributed to the tissues, so Guanfacine HCL the concentration of the drug in blood is low, and the binding rate of plasma protein is low. Most of the drugs are metabolized in vivo.
The main metabolites are 3-hydroxyl derivatives and their oxidized mercaptan uric acid derivatives. 80% of the metabolites are excreted by the kidneys.
