Pharmaceutical Intermediate Primaquine Diphosphate Powder CAS 90-34-6 c
Primaquine Diphosphate was chemically synthesized by Elderfield in 1946 and improved in 1955. Its salting
forms were phosphate and oxalate. The main application form was Primaquine phosphate. Primaquine
Diphosphate was first included in the 1963 edition of Chinese Pharmacopoeia, and has since been included
in every edition of Chinese Pharmacopoeia. Primaquine Diphosphate has been reported that primaquine
phosphate has a good killing effect against Tayloria sergii and Tayloria circularis, benil is effective against
Tayloria bovis and Tayloria circularis, and it has also been reported that Primaquine phosphate and Benil
have been used to treat Tayloria in sheep, but the therapeutic effect is not consistent.
1.Primaquine diphosphate is primarily used to prevent relapse of malaria due to Plasmodium vivax and
Plasmodium ovale.
2.Use in combination with quinine or chloroquine each of which is very effective at clearing P. vivax from
blood, improves outcomes; they appear to also potentiate the action of primaquine.
3.Primaquine diphosphate is also used in the treatment of Pneumocystis pneumonia (), a fungal infection
commonly occurring in people with AIDS and, more rarely, in those taking immunosuppressive drugs. To
treat effectively, it is usually combined with clindamycin.
4.Primaquine diphosphate has not been studied extensively in people 65 and older so it is not known if
dosing should be adjusted for this population.
